How we started

 

Aloha!

We are Adam & Devin Green, owners of Mermaid Tears Hawaii located on the North Shore of Oahu. About 9 years ago we moved to Waialua from a tiny village in southern Ohio. Naturally, we were drawn to the mesmerizing & secluded beaches on the north shore and began collecting sea glass and seashells. After a couple of years we began running out of room for our sea glass & seashells! By then, we were addicted. There was no way we could quit collecting sea glass, you know that feeling when you find a rare aqua blue sea glass, or even the more rare cobalt blue sea glass? How could one give up that feeling!

Well, as you have probably guess, this is where Mermaid Tears Hawaii comes in. We thought why not recycle these amazing beach finds we have been collecting over the years! So we decided to learn to make sea glass jewelry with our sea treasures. Adam & I are very lucky to have incredibly supportive family and friends who first inspired us to start a business out of our love for creating jewelry and art. Now we have an established online shop on Etsy under the name MermaidTearsDesigns at www.mermaidtearshawaii.com and can be found at the Somerset Consignment Boutique in Somerset, Ohio. Mermaid Tears Hawaii was established in January 2010 and we have been growing our sea glass jewelry business ever since! Most of our sea glass is found along beaches on the North Shore of Oahu (Hawaii). Adam & I spend many hours each week coming the secluded beaches we have worked so hard to find! We guarantee all of our sea glass to be 100% genuine surf-tumbled sea glass and all of our seashells are found empty, no creatures are ever removed from their homes during our treasure hunting excursions!
